Welcome to Victoria
Grove's New Website!
Victoria Grove is a
master-planned, gated community comprised of 1120 homes located
in western Riverside County immediately north of Lake Mathews.
Located on a plateau at the top of La Sierra Ave., Victoria
Grove’s design harkens back to the days when “Citrus Was King”
in Riverside County. Located several miles west of the
California Citrus State Historic Park, in Riverside, California,
Victoria Grove pays homage to the time when citrus farming was
one of the dominant industries in Southern California. In fact,
Victoria Grove’s CC&Rs require that hundreds of orange trees be
permanently maintained within its 500 plus acres of common area,
a task undertaken by its homeowners association, Victoria Grove
Maintenance Association, Inc. (VGMA).
Victoria Grove was
initially approved by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors
in the early 1990s, however, it was not completed until
approximately 2005; in order to provide future homeowners with
relatively level streets for walking and cycling and to
accommodate the large VGMA-owned community park (containing a
baseball diamond, picnic area, playground and basketball court)
substantial grading had to be done. As a drive through Victoria
Grove will readily demonstrate, the wait was well worth it as
evidenced by the number of residents who walk and ride their
bikes on a daily basis through our community.
Blackburn Road
bisects Victoria Grove from east to west. The south half of
Victoria Grove is mostly enclosed by retaining walls (which
tends to spare residents from random visits by local wildlife
including coyotes, rabbits, frogs, gophers and assorted species
of reptiles). The north half of Victoria Grove is only
partially enclosed making its residents much more prone to
visits by area wildlife. During the construction of Victoria
Grove, the Army Corps of Engineers directed the improvement and
preservation of a pre-existing creek which is now permanently
set aside as a wildlife area whose course runs from an behind
the pool/park area on the south side underneath Blackburn Road
and then parallel to Victoria Grove Parkway on the north side.
In addition to the
VGMA, Victoria Grove was created by its Master Developer,
Bernard Maniscalco, with a community service organization (CSO)
called Victoria Grove Community Services, Inc. (VGCS). It is
the purpose of the VGCS to serve the needs of the Victoria Grove
residents by sponsoring organizations such as the Cub Scouts,
Boy Scouts and YMCA Adventure Guides. In addition, the VGCS
sponsors community events such as the School’s Out! Picnic on
the last day of school; Movies in the Park later in the summer;
and the Fall Harvest Festival and Safety Fair in October in
conjunction with the VGMA’s Security and Safety Affairs
Committee.
Victoria Grove residents are
looking forward to the construction of the VGCS Produce Market
in 2011 which will be situated on a parcel located south of the
intersection of Blackburn Rd. and Greentree Dr. across from Lake
Mathews Elementary School. The design of the facility is
reminiscent of the kind of outbuildings typically found on
citrus farms in the early 20th century. The VGCS is
anticipating leasing the market to a local produce farmer who
will make fresh fruits and vegetables available for sale to
Victoria Grove residents as well as residents of other nearby
homeowners associations. The lease income will be used by the
VGCS to sponsor community organizations and events over the long
term with the overall goal of enriching the lives of the
residents of Victoria Grove.
